A Sports Chiropractor for Stanley Park Regulars

Stanley Park has very few permanent residents, but it keeps a lot of people moving: runners, cyclists, inline skaters, and walkers who loop the seawall, plus people from the West End and Coal Harbour towers next door. Jassal Chiropractic welcomes them. Dr. Jassal has been seeing families in Vancouver for over 13 years, and our approach is the same for every athlete: we help your nervous system work well, and your body takes care of the rest.

The Aches That Follow Seawall Miles

The complaints we hear from park regulars tend to look like this:

  • Knee and ankle soreness from long runs on hard surfaces
  • Neck and shoulder stiffness from a tucked cycling position
  • Tight hips and hamstrings after skating or running
  • Lower back fatigue that lingers for days
  • Overuse soreness from repeating the same loop week after week

A Gentle Method for Repetitive Strain

Much of our care uses Torque Release Technique, delivered with a small handheld instrument called the Integrator. Its light, quick impulse lands on specific points of the spine and nothing twists. That suits athletes who are already sore from training, and anyone who prefers a softer touch.

How We Approach an Active Patient

We begin with your routine: how far, how often, on what surface, and with what gear. Then we examine your posture and the way your spine and joints move, and we review nervous system scans. The aim is to find where the load is landing and why, and to build care around the sport you love.

Care for Cyclists, Skaters, and Runners

The seawall circles the park for about nine kilometres. Cyclists travel counter-clockwise, and the path has separate lanes for pedestrians and cyclists. That flow makes it easy to rack up repeat miles in a single position. We look at your riding posture, your running stride, your shoes, and your bike fit, then give practical changes that take pressure off the joints you use most.

Movement Habits Between Appointments

Short, targeted stretches and strengthening moves, taught during your visit, help your progress last between sessions. We keep them simple enough to fit before a run or after a ride.

What Our Scans Add

We use measurements alongside our exam so your plan reflects more than how you feel on the day:

  • sEMG Asymmetry Scan: shows where muscle activity is uneven from one side of the spine to the other.
  • sEMG Amplitude Scan: checks how your muscles respond to the nerve signals reaching them.
  • EMG Rolling Thermal Scan: charts skin temperature up and down the spine, one of the signs our doctors consider when looking at nervous system stress.
  • Heart Rate Variability (HRV): gives a picture of how you handle stress and bounce back after hard sessions.

Our doctors request digital x-rays only when they expect them to help, and a standing view shows how your spine sits when it carries your own weight.

An Ongoing Plan That Fits Your Training

Some people brush their teeth to keep cavities away, and others brush to keep their teeth healthy. Sport care works the same way. Some park regulars visit to keep an old problem from returning, while others choose ongoing care because they want to keep building. We help you choose the pace that suits you, and we revisit it as your training changes.

Young Athletes Are Welcome

Children and teens who skate, ride, or run are welcome here. We use a very light touch, parents stay in the room, and we explain each step in plain language. Parents can read more about children’s chiropractic care before booking.

Q: What can a sports chiropractor help a runner or cyclist with?

A: We look at how your spine, joints, and nervous system are coping with repeated motion, then adjust gently where joints are restricted. We also suggest changes to your posture, form, and equipment that can lighten the load on your body over time.

Q: How soon before an event should I come in?

A: There is no single rule. Some athletes prefer to be seen in the weeks before a big event so we can review training load and answer questions, and others book regular visits all season. Tell us about your calendar and we will plan around it.

Q: Is sports chiropractic suitable for children who skate or ride?

A: Children and teens are adjusted with a lighter touch than adults, and a parent stays beside them throughout. Dr. Jassal has been seeing families in Vancouver for over 13 years, and he explains each step before it happens.

Q: Will I need x-rays?

A: Only if our doctors judge they will help. Some patients are assessed with an exam and scans alone.

Q: Do I need to live near Stanley Park to book?

A: No. Our Main Street clinic welcomes patients from across Vancouver and Metro Vancouver, and that includes anyone who runs or rides in the park.

Stanley Park covers roughly 400 hectares in Vancouver. It opened in 1888 and carries the name of Lord Stanley, who was Governor General of Canada at the time.

Most visitors come for the seawall, but the park also holds Lost Lagoon, Prospect Point, Third Beach, and the Brockton Point totem poles, with a network of forest trails running through the trees. It is open daily from 6am to 10pm unless otherwise posted.
