Even a straightforward birth is a lot of physical work for a baby, right? The head and neck go through real pressure getting into the world, and most of the time it resolves on its own within a few days. But sometimes that tension sticks around. In the first weeks, parents usually notice it before anyone points it out to them: feeding better on one side than the other, a head that always turns the same way in the crib, or a baby who just seems harder to settle than they expected. That’s usually the first sign that something on that nervous system communication line needs a look, and it’s the most common reason families start searching for a baby chiropractor in Vancouver in the first place.

Latch and Feeding

A lot of the families who come to us in those first weeks are dealing with a latch that isn’t quite right, feeding that’s easier on one side, or a baby who tires out at the breast before finishing. Tension in the neck and jaw can make it harder for a baby to open wide and stay latched comfortably. Your lactation consultant or midwife stays part of your care team throughout, and we work alongside them closely.

Head Preference, Torticollis and Flat Spots

If your baby always turns their head the same direction, or you’re noticing a flat spot developing, that’s worth checking early. We look at whether there’s tightness on one side of the neck making it harder to turn the other way. If your baby is already seeing a physiotherapist or wearing a helmet for plagiocephaly, we coordinate directly with that care. The earlier this gets addressed, the easier it tends to resolve.
