Our modern chiropractic clinic downtown Vancouver uses state-of-the art equipment and cutting-edge tools to help you relieve pain or treat other conditions to achieve optimal health.

X-Rays

Jassal Chiropractic has onsite x-ray facilities. Our chiropractic x-ray unit is a state-of-the-art digital unit, which does not require chemicals or film, reducing our impact on the environment. Additionally, the unit has advanced sensors, narrower beaming and special filters to ensure that the radiation exposure is much less than traditional x-ray units. During your initial exam, it is determined whether or not x-rays are required.

At Jassal Chiropractic, we:

  • Take only the most necessary views
  • Use the most up-to-date equipment
  • Protect sensitive body parts with lead shielding
  • Maintain regular equipment inspection and licensing

X-rays enable your chiropractor to see if there are any stress points present in your spine or any joint dysfunctions. X-rays may help identify potential problems, such as arthritis and disc degeneration in their early stages, before they become more complex and advanced. To get the most accurate pictures, we take x-ray views showing your body in a weight-bearing position (standing up). This will help the chiropractor see your spine in its most natural state.

Scanning

Computerized nervous system scans are conducted in our office to help the chiropractor see any abnormalities in the muscle tension and nerve activity along your spine. These scans give us information about how your Autonomic Nervous and Muscular systems are functioning – this way it is easier to see where and how your subluxations are interfering with your body’s proper functioning. Your chiropractor can determine what kind of chiropractic care is best for you by reading your scans and comparing them to your x-rays.

sEMG – Asymmetry Scan

Your muscles are controlled by nerves. The sEMG measures the amount of nerve activity happening in your muscles when you are sitting still, and this tells us how well these motor nerves are working. Subluxations disturb the function of the nerve, causing an abnormal pattern of activity throughout your muscles (indicated by colors and/or abnormal patterns.)

sEMG – Amplitude Scan

Muscle Balance is extremely important as the bones in your spine depend on the muscles to move properly. If one or more vertebrae are out of their normal position, it disturbs nerve function. This disturbance creates muscle imbalance caused by an abnormal amount of electrical current in the muscles on either side of the spine. As a result of this disturbance, the muscles can become weaker or stronger, tighter or fatigued. The abnormal muscle pattern on the scan reveals an increased amount of tension/pull on one side compared to the other (similar to a Tug-of-War).

EMG – Rolling Thermal Scan

If your body temperature is 98.6 degrees, then the left and right sides of your spine should also be the same temperature. The blood vessels under your skin work as your body’s thermostat. (They expand to release heat and contract to retain heat controlling the body’s temperature.)

When the communication between your nervous system and your blood vessels is disturbed, it causes the body’s thermostat to malfunction producing an imbalanced temperature reading along the spine. These blood vessels are controlled by the same part of the Central Nervous System that runs your organs and glands, known as the Autonomic Nervous System. The rolling thermal scan provides us with information about this component of the nervous system.

HRV – Heart Rate Variability

Heart Rate Variability is a tool that looks at the activity of the autonomic nervous system (ANS). Changes in the heart rate have a direct correlation to the activity of the ANS, and therefore can determine if you are in a high stress or rest state. In general, if the ANS is in a high stress state we often will see signs and symptoms such as high blood pressure, muscle cramps, nervousness, indigestion, heartburn, insomnia. Inversely if the ANS is in a below rest state we will likely see symptoms such as acid reflux disease, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, and in severe cases the inability to mount a healing response.
