Sports Chiropractic for Bridgeport and Richmond Athletes

Richmond athletes cross the river to reach our Main Street clinic, including families from Bridgeport, and we are glad to see them. Dr. Jassal has been seeing families in Vancouver for over 13 years, so we look after young players and their parents as well as adults who train hard. Think of your nervous system as a guitar string: pulled too tight, your body stays in stress mode, and too loose, signals weaken. Training tests that string every day, and our job is to help it settle into the tuning in between.

Common Aches in Active Bodies

The issues that bring athletes to us most often include:

  • Ankle and knee problems that keep returning
  • Tight hamstrings and imbalanced hips
  • Shoulder strain from swimming, racquet sports, or overhead lifting
  • Neck and back stiffness after impact or repeated hard efforts
  • Overuse soreness from doing the same motion again and again

A Gentle Method for Demanding Training

We use Torque Release Technique for much of our care, with a small handheld instrument called the Integrator. It delivers a quick, light impulse to specific points along the spine. There is no twisting, which makes it a comfortable option for athletes recovering from injury and for anyone who prefers a softer approach.

How a Sports Visit Differs From a General One

Sport puts specific loads on the spine and the nervous system. We ask about your training week, your event calendar, and the movements you repeat most, then examine how your joints share the work. Care is built around your sport and your goals, and we explain what we find in plain language so you can see the reasoning behind each step.

Runners, Cyclists, and Everyone on the Move

The Bridgeport Recreational Trail gives runners and cyclists an off-road route, and the Canada Line makes it possible to commute without a car. Active commuters and weekend athletes put steady, repetitive load on the same joints. We look at your stride, your riding position, your gear, and the way you recover, then suggest changes that keep you moving.

What Our Scans Show

Measurements sit alongside our hands-on exam, so your plan is based on more than how you feel:

  • sEMG Asymmetry Scan: checks whether the muscles on one side of your spine are doing more than the other side.
  • sEMG Amplitude Scan: shows how your muscles are answering the signals sent by your nerves.
  • EMG Rolling Thermal Scan: follows temperature changes down the spine as one indicator of nervous system stress.
  • Heart Rate Variability (HRV): tells us how well your body handles the stress of training and bounces back from it.

Our doctors order digital x-rays only when they are warranted. When they are, we image you on your feet so we can see your alignment under your own body weight.

Training Smarter Between Appointments

Short stretches, a better warm-up, and a few strength habits can protect the progress you make in the clinic. We teach what is useful for your sport and leave out the rest, so a routine fits in before work or after a session.

Care for Young Athletes

Kids who play club or school sports are welcome, and parents stay in the room for every visit. We keep the touch very light and explain each step to both of you. Parents can read more about children’s chiropractic care before booking.

Ready to Talk About Your Training?

Book a complimentary 10-minute phone consultation and tell us about your sport, your season, and what you want your body to keep doing.

Q: How is sports chiropractic different from regular chiropractic care?

A: The core approach is the same: gentle adjustments that help joints move freely and support the nervous system. In sports care we spend more time on how you move, what your sport demands, and how your body recovers between sessions, and we tailor the plan to your training.

Q: How many visits does an active person usually need?

A: There is no standard number. Some athletes come for a short series to settle a specific problem, and others prefer ongoing visits through their season. After your first assessment we will lay out the options and you choose the pace.

Q: Is it safe for kids who play sports?

A: Care for children is lighter than care for adults, parents are in the room throughout, and every step is explained before it happens. Dr. Jassal has been seeing families in Vancouver for over 13 years.

Q: Will I need x-rays?

A: Not always. Our doctors take x-rays only when they believe the images will help your care, so some patients are assessed with an exam and scans alone.

Q: Can I book if I live and train in Richmond?

A: Richmond residents are welcome, and families from Bridgeport already make the trip across the river to our Main Street clinic. We are happy to build a plan around your schedule.

Bridgeport sits in northern Richmond. The Canada Line branches at Bridgeport Station, and one branch runs west to YVR-Airport. The Bridgeport Recreational Trail offers an off-road route for walking and cycling.

Richmond is also home to the Richmond Olympic Oval, which hosted long track speed skating at the 2010 Winter Games and now serves the local community every day.
