Upper Cervical Chiropractic for Brentwood and Burnaby

Jassal Chiropractic offers upper cervical chiropractic care to patients from Brentwood and across Burnaby who want a gentle, precise approach focused on the top of the spine and the nervous system. Dr. Jassal has been seeing families in Vancouver for over 13 years, and the same light touch guides our work with adults. Think of your nervous system as a guitar string: pulled too tight, the body stays in stress mode, and too loose, signals weaken. We aim to help it find the tuning in between.

Why the Top of the Spine Gets Special Attention

The upper cervical spine is made up of the atlas (C1) and the axis (C2), the top two vertebrae of the neck. They sit just below the skull, where the brain connects to the spinal cord, and they allow your head to nod and turn. Because this area carries the weight of the head and sits so close to that connection, we pay close attention to how well it moves.

What Brings People to Us

Patients come to us with neck tension, posture strain, and stiffness that has not eased on its own. We make no promises about any one symptom. What we do is look at how your upper spine and nervous system are working and support them gently, so your body can do what it already knows how to do.

Our Approach to Care

We work from the inside out. Our job is to find where interference has built up along the nervous system and to remove it with as little force as possible. Healing happens in your body, usually after you leave the office, and our care gives that process room. Every plan is individual, because every neck, history, and routine is different.

Torque Release Technique and the Integrator

We use Torque Release Technique for upper cervical care. The Integrator is a small handheld instrument that delivers a quick, light impulse at specific points on the spine. The neck is never twisted and nothing is forced, which suits people who are tense, sensitive, or nervous about neck adjustments.

What an Evaluation Involves

Your first visit starts with a conversation about your health, your work, and how long your symptoms have been around. We then look at your posture, test how your neck and spine move, and review nervous system scans. Digital x-rays are taken only at the doctors’ discretion. Before any care begins, you will hear what we found and what we recommend, in plain language.

How Strain Builds Up at the Neck

Posture, old injuries, and repetitive stress all leave their mark on the neck. Life in Brentwood brings its own versions: hours at a laptop in a condo, a daily SkyTrain ride with your eyes on a phone, and a bag that always rides on the same shoulder. Habits like these can leave the neck stiff and the joints at the top of the spine moving less freely. We ask about your days, then look at where your neck is taking the load.

Care That Adapts Over Time

After your first few visits we review how you are responding and adjust how often you come in. Some people need a short run of visits, and others prefer regular check-ins to keep their neck and posture on track. You choose the pace, and we make sure you have the information to choose it well.

How Our Scans Guide Your Care

Measurements sit alongside our hands-on exam. You can read more about our facilities and equipment, and here is what each scan tells us:

  • sEMG Asymmetry Scan: looks for uneven muscle tension from the left side of the neck and spine to the right.
  • sEMG Amplitude Scan: shows how your spinal muscles are responding to the signals they receive from your nerves.
  • EMG Rolling Thermal Scan: compares skin temperature on either side of the spine, which our doctors weigh as one sign of how your nervous system is coping.
  • Heart Rate Variability (HRV): shows how your nervous system adapts to stress and how well you recover.

Everyday Habits That Help

We teach practical changes that fit a busy day. Raise your screen toward eye level, switch your bag to the other shoulder, and take a short break to look up and turn your head whenever you have been on a train or at a desk for a while. Small adjustments add up, and we explain the reasoning so you can make them your own.

Brentwood began in July 1953, when Burnaby council approved a subdivision of about 400 homes at the northeast corner of Lougheed and Willingdon. The shopping centre alongside it opened in August 1961.

That centre has since been redeveloped as The Amazing Brentwood, a master-planned community connected to Brentwood Town Centre SkyTrain station, and the area has seen a wave of new towers and homes.
