Upper Cervical Chiropractic for Stanley Park Regulars and Neighbours
Stanley Park has very few permanent residents, yet its seawall and trails draw runners, cyclists, and walkers every day, and the high-rises of the West End and Coal Harbour stand along its edge. Jassal Chiropractic welcomes all of them for gentle care focused on the top of the spine. Dr. Jassal has been seeing families in Vancouver for over 13 years, and our care rests on one idea: healing happens inside your body, after you leave the office.

What Sits at the Top of Your Spine
Two small vertebrae, the atlas (C1) and axis (C2), crown the spine. The atlas lets your head nod, the axis lets it rotate, and both lie close to the junction of brain and spinal cord. That mix of mobility and closeness to the nervous system is why this area gets special attention.
How the Neck Is Asked to Work
Active people in particular put the neck through a lot. A cyclist in a tucked position holds the head up against gravity for miles, a runner glancing at a phone or a watch tilts it down, and anyone who works in a tower has hours at a screen before a lunchtime walk. We ask about your routine and examine where your neck is carrying the load.
Why People Come to Us
Neck tension, posture strain, and stiffness that lingers are the usual reasons. We do not promise a result for any one symptom. We examine your upper spine and nervous system, look for where interference has built up, and give your body room to do what it already knows how to do.

Our Approach in a Few Words
We use as little force as the situation allows, we explain what we find, and we plan around your age, history, and routine. We aim to strengthen your body’s capacity to cope with stress, whether the load comes from a race build-up or a long week at work.

What Your Evaluation Covers
Your visit begins with a talk about your health, your training, and what you want from care. We look at posture, test how the neck and spine move, and go through your nervous system scans. If our doctors think an x-ray would add something, they will say so. Before we adjust anything, we explain what we found.
What Each Scan Tells Us
Our scans give us measurements to work from, and you can see more on our facilities and equipment page:
- sEMG Asymmetry Scan: reveals whether muscle tension is balanced between the sides of the spine.
- sEMG Amplitude Scan: checks how the muscles alongside your spine answer nerve signals.
- EMG Rolling Thermal Scan: records skin temperature down each side of the spine as one input to our assessment of nervous system stress.
- Heart Rate Variability (HRV): offers insight into how you cope with stress and recover after hard efforts.
Torque Release Technique and the Integrator
Much of our care uses Torque Release Technique. The Integrator, a small handheld tool, delivers a brief, light impulse to chosen points along the spine. Nothing twists the neck and nothing is forced, so it works well for athletes who are already sore and for anyone wary of neck adjustments.

Habits for the Seawall and the Desk
A few steps help. Keep your gaze ahead while you run and lift your phone to eye level, set your handlebars and saddle so your neck is not craning upward, and take breaks from your screen to look into the distance. We show you the changes that suit your day and leave out the rest.
Care That Follows Your Training
Training blocks, events, and quieter stretches all change what your body needs. As they shift, we check in on your progress, change how often we see you, and leave the pace for you to set.
