School is back in session and that means that there is extra stress on young spines.  The start of a new school year means that kids will be sitting for longer periods of time in the classroom.  Making sure that after school they spend a minimum of 20-30 min of physical exercise will help their bodies recover sitting for long periods of time; anything from walking to basketball will be great for them.

Getting them checked regularly will help keep their spines healthy and straight.

Make sure that when choosing a backpack that the straps are wide and there is a waist strap.  The waist strap will ensure that the backpack is secured to the back so that the weight doesn’t pull on the shoulders. Make sure that heavy items (textbooks) are close to their spine and that both shoulder straps are worn and pulled tight.

Getting their spine checked regularly will help keep their spines healthy and straight.
